Welcome to new members who joined us in August:-
JVL Construction, Red Elephant HR and Classic Woodcraft
Networking is more than just the people within our immediate network, infact more business is done through second and third line contacts you meet via the members of networks you are a part of. LinkedIn uses this to great effect enabling businesses to ask for connections to second and third line contacts visible against peoples profile.
The Calverley Business Network members are keen to share not only contacts but also promote their events. One way we are looking to do this is through expanding our use of social media such as LinkedIn.. One member RedVoice is running an event on the 21st of September in Harrogate on “Effective Communication and Presentation Skills”, delegates can expect to learn how to be themsleves more confidently. For more information please visit our LinkedIn group at http://www.linkedin.com/groups?mostPopular=&gid=3198258
The Calverley Business Network would like to invite all members to use the LinkedIn Group to post and advertise events and to use the events function on the social network site to recruit members and none members to their events. As a free business networking tool it is fantastic way to keep networking with each other outside our events and to promote what you are doing to members.

Whilst the jury is out on whether we are now in an economic plateau, expecting an upturn or possibly facing a further downturn. Some facts remain as to where we are today. Competition is tough, your network really matters and cash is scarce.
So what better time than to barter goods and services. Last night at our first event in 2010 new members and existing members were thinking creatively to find ways they could support each other.
Gary Hepworth our new Painter and Decorater offered his services in exchange for help with sourcing tickets for a west end show from our local actress Victoria Pritchard.
Zulfi Hussain MBE offered his mentoring services to Ellen Osborn of Allerton Park in exchange for research consultancy for his charity Global Promise.
Finally in the true spirit of local networks Lee Gawthorpe from Click Computer Systems after giving many members the wisdom of his technical expertise especially in regard to laptops has offered to support our online Calverley Business Network by helping us to optimise our pages so we always appear in google when you type in Calverley Business. Good news for us all.
