The Calverley Business Network celebrated its 1st year anniversary at it October meeting with over 25 people attending, there was standing room only.
Founder of the network Zandra Moore said “We are proud of the success of our local business network which has grown above and beyond what we had expected”.
The success of the network has been attributed to its informal and relaxed atmosphere, the network is free to join and members can drop in at any of the monthly meetings held at The New Inn in Calverley on the first Tuesday of every month.
The Network Works
In celebration of the networks first anniversary we have decided to share some of the stories of how the network is working for its members.
“I have had 4 tasty evening meals at Deeva, 3 trips to Claytons Automotive to fix our cars, 2 six foot banners produced for our business from printing.com, 2 dodgy lawnmowers fixed by the Tool Doctor and one fab new bathroom being installed shortly by the Yorkshire Kitchen Company, the network really works” Helen West from RedVoice.
“We have had all our restaurants marketing literature produced by Printing.com and our employment contracts are being written by Red Elephant HR and we are delighted to be hosting the Calverley Business Network Christmas party at Deeva in December.” Zulfi Hussain from Deeva
“Whether its business cards from Printing.com, advice from Thornhill financial services or a catch up on the local news down at Calverley Fish Shop. The network is supporting both my business and personal needs, supporting the local economy over a glass of wine, that’s my kind of networking” Zandra Moore from Salescake
“ Running a business and generating new customers is never easy, with the amount of competition we have in the motor trade be it from Fast Fits or Main Dealers, gaining the opportunity to speak to a potential new customer is vital in the hard times we are facing today. As an independent garage CBN gives us just that, we are able put ourselves across as a real alternative to the multi nationals with massive marketing budgets, we can to speak to people local to our business on a one to one basis and generate a bond whilst building up a trust with people before they even visit our premises. Not only that we gain valued business contacts along the way from all walks of life, in turn generating business for each other. Word of mouth is by far the greatest marketing tool available, add that to the fun and informal way things are run by volunteers at no cost to CBN members and you have a great business mix, long may it continue!” James Clayton from Claytons MOT
The Calverley Business Network will be celebrating its first year at our next meeting on the 5th of October. From informal beginnings when four business women in Calverley met in the local pub the network now has grown to over 40 members.
Our recent meeting in September saw the largest number of new members joining us and we would like to welcome the following people to this vibrant growing network.

Calverley Business Network Member Tracey Barraclough is getting the network in shape with the launch of her new “fitness in the park” work outs. Tracey’s mission is to help people to be fabulous sharing her story of hope against adversity inspiring others to be the best they can be.
The first fitness in the park is on Saturday 17 July at 10.00am in Victoria Park Calverley whatever the weather!
Tracey says “If everyone could bring a mat that would be great if not it doesn’t matter or maybe a towel would do! May I stress that the emphasis will be on FUN and whilst there’s a ‘body builder’ in everyone that’s not the goal but it can be if you want it to be!”
This event is Free of Charge for further information go to traceybarraclough.org.uk
Zandra Moore of Salescake said “it is great to do business with people in the same village, there are a large number of business people in Calverley so setting up a network to encourage more local business made sense”.
The Calverley Business Network, started in October 2009, is run voluntarily by the co- founders from RedVoice and Salescake. The network meets on the 1st Tuesday of every month at the New Inn on Carr Road in Calverley from 7.30pm onwards. With over 35 members it is a vibrant, informal business networking event, “It’s the only event I know where doing business is so enjoyable”, says founder Helen West from Redvoice.
There are lots of reasons why our members come along;
